How Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner could follow in Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s footsteps at Wimbledon

As expected, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have safely made it into the final four of Wimbledon.

Alcaraz has grown into his Wimbledon campaign after a shaky start in the first round against Fabio Fognini.

Sinner has had to deal with an ‘unfortunate’ Wimbledon, which saw him fortunately survive from two sets down against Grigor Dimitrov due to the Bulgarian’s injury.

Nevertheless, Alcaraz and Sinner are still on track to do something at Wimbledon that has not been achieved since 2008.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz could replicate the Roland Garros final at Wimbledon

Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated the ATP Tour over the last year, splitting the last six Grand Slams equally.

Sinner has won the Australian Open twice and the US Open, while Alcaraz has captured Wimbledon and two Roland Garros titles.

The pair could be set for a collision course in the Wimbledon final for the first time ever, and it would mean they would achieve something not seen since Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer’s final in 2008.

Those two tennis giants met in both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon finals in 2008, something that hasn’t been done in the intervening years.

Should Alcaraz and Sinner collide at SW19, it will be the first time the two Grand Slams have shared the same match for 17 years.

Of course, Djokovic and Taylor Fritz stand in the way of the top two players in the ATP Tour rankings.

Jannik Sinner confirms if he’ll be fit for Novak Djokovic match

Sinner has been dealing with an injury in his past two matches against Dimitrov and Ben Shelton, and he’s revealed if he’ll be ready for his semi-final with Djokovic.

Sinner was forced into a medical timeout in his match against Dimitrov, but he’s confirmed he’ll be ready for his clash with the Serbian.

Speaking after his victory over Shelton, Sinner revealed: “Time will always help and [Thursday] is one day off, which is going to be good for me, and Friday I’m going to be 100%.”

Both men’s semi-finals are played on July 11 with the order of play yet to be announced by the All England Club.
