Novak Djokovic picked Paris 2024 as the ‘best’ moment of his career

Djokovic finally achieved the one thing that had eluded him in his career when he won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Asked by The Jay Shetty Podcast what the best moment of his career was, Djokovic opted for his gold medal win in Paris.

Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas, Lorenzo Musetti, and Carlos Alcaraz to claim the top prize at the Olympics and the Serbian said the win was “Even better than Wimbledon and some other slams.”

The star had not won a Olympic gold medal despite his dominance in tennis and that was one of the reasons it was so special.

The legendary tennis icon explained: “It was my final chance and I won it. Winning the Olympics was the best moment of my career.”

Novak Djokovic’s worst moment also came at the Olympics

In contrast, Djokovic’s ‘worst’ moment of his career also came at the Olympics just eight years prior to his win.

Djokovic crashed out of the first round of the tournament in Brazil to Juan Martin del Potro in a straight sets loss.

Asked why the loss hurt so much in the same podcast, Djokovic revealed: “I was at the Peak of my career.” All 4 slams, I was No.1 and was barely missing a shot.”

“Losing it crushed me,” the 24-time Grand Slam champion continued. “I had doubts that I couldn’t do it in my peak.”

Djokovic had previously won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and the Beijing Olympics in 2008 before he finally won his gold medal.
