Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have dominated tennis in 2025, but they don’t have the most wins in hard-court matches this season.

The main talking point for the 2025 US Open is the World No. 1 race between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner and Alcaraz have met in several ATP Tour finals this year, including Wimbledon, Roland Garros, and, most recently, the Cincinnati Open.

Despite Sinner and Alcaraz’s dominance on the surface, one star has more wins than both men after their latest US Open win.

Alex de Minaur impressed in his opening round match against compatriot Christopher O’Connell at the US Open as he raced to a straight sets victory.

The Aussie suffered an early exit from the Cincinnati Open and looked all the more fresh for it at Flushing Meadows.

His victory against O’Connell was his 25th hard-court victory of the year, which is more than anyone else on the ATP tour.

For reference, Alcaraz has 22 hard-court wins this year, while World No. 1 Sinner is further back on 13 hard-court victories.

The Australian’s stats are propped up by his fantastic display at the Washington Open, which saw him lift the trophy against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Who does Alex de Minaur play next at the 2025 US Open?

The World No. 8 has been gifted a kind draw at the US Open with his second-round match against qualifier, Shintaro Mochizuki.

Should he win that, de Minaur will likely play out-of-form Stefanos Tsitsipas, with a potential fourth-round meeting against Karen Khachanov.

If de Minaur gets as far as the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows, the star will play World No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the last eight.

That means de Minaur could only play two top 20 players before reaching the final four of the Grand Slam.
