The US Open singles draw is officially underway as the legendary American tournament looks to crown the last Grand Slam winner of 2025.
The US Open Mixed Doubles tournament provided a nice taster at Flushing Meadows and now the main event is set to get underway.
The tournament has offered up some incredible surprises throughout the years, as some massive players have crumbled in shocking defeats.
Here are the five biggest shocks in US Open history.
John Millman shocks Roger Federer at US Open 2018

Roger Federer won five US Open tournaments in a row between 2004 and 2008, but a decade after his incredible triumph the star suffered a shocking loss.
Australian John Millman never made it past the third round of a Grand Slam before the 2018 US Open and he inflicted a huge loss on Federer.
The round of 16 match was done and dusted in four sets as Millman secured a place in the final eight against Novak Djokovic.
To rub salt into the wounds, it was the only time Millman managed to defeat Federer and he crashed out to Djokovic in the next round.
Roberta Vinci takes out Serena Williams at the 2015 US Open

Roberta Vinci had won several Grand Slams as a doubles player before her incredible run at the US Open 2015, but it made her route to the final no less shocking.
Vinci knocked out Eugenie Bouchard and Denisa Šátralová to reach the semi-finals, but no one was expecting the Italian to defeat Serena Williams in the final four.
It looked business as usual as Williams took the first set off the Italian, but two 6-4 sets followed to secure Vinci one of the most shocking wins in tournament history.
Williams had won the previous three tournaments at the US Open, but she was undone by the tricky Italian.
Vinci was defeated by her compatriot Flavia Pennetta in the final, but her run at the 2015 event was remarkable.
Leylah Fernandez stuns Naomi Osaka in the US Open third round

The 2021 US Open was full of shocks on the women’s side of the draw, and not just because Emma Raducanu became the first-ever qualifier to win the event.
Leylah Fernandez, who also reached the final of the tournament, defeated Elina Svitolina and Aryna Sabalenka on her way to the final.
Her third-round win against two-time champion Naomi Osaka was the most shocking of all as the American’s title defense became unstuck in three sets.
In an entire tournament of shocks, Fernandez defeating the former World No. 1 was the most surprising of them all.
Alexander Volkov knocked Stefan Edberg out in the first round in 1990

Stefan Edberg was riding a crest of momentum as he headed the 1990 US Open, but the Swede was knocked out in the first round.
Edberg has just claimed his second Wimbledon title, which earned him World No 1 status for the first for the very first time.
On top of that, Edberg was on a 21-match win streak ahead of his match with World No. 52 Alexander Volkov.
The Soviet star knocked the favourite for the tournament out in straight sets in his biggest-ever win in the sport.
Marin Cilic dispatches Roger Federer on his way to US Open glory

The US Open seemed to open up for a Federer win in 2014, but Marin Cilic didn’t read the script heading into their semi-final.
Djokovic had already exited the tournament and Federer was the overwhelming favourite to earn his sixth US Open crown.
Cilic played out of his skin against the Swiss superstar, racing to a straight sets victory in his only career win against Federer.
The Croatian made the most of his form as he went on to lift the trophy, which became the only Grand Slam victory of his career.
