Carlos Alcaraz is trying to win his third straight Wimbledon title in this year’s championship.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has the highest ever winning percentage on grass, and after emerging the champion at Queen’s Club in the build-up to Wimbledon 2025, he continues to look unbeatable on the surface once again.

Alcaraz has a 27-3 record on grass in his career. That’s the highest winning percentage of any of the 27 former number ones in ATP rankings history, dating back to 1973.
Two players have beaten Alcaraz in the past at Wimbledon, however, and they could play him in this year’s championship.
Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev have beaten Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon
Alcaraz’s biggest rival and world number one Jannik Sinner, and 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev are the only two players on the planet that can claim to have beaten Alcaraz at Wimbledon.
Medvedev got him early. It was Alcaraz’s Wimbledon debut, and he brilliantly beat Yasutaka Uchiyama in his first match on grass, and the first five-set match of his career.
The world’s number two at the time, Medvedev, comfortably dispatched the 18-year-old prodigy in straight sets before going on to lose in the fourth round.
The following year, it was Sinner’s turn to hand Alcaraz his most recent loss at Wimbledon in the 2022 championships. At 19, Alcaraz reached the round of 16 for the first time at a major with wins against Jan-Lennard Struff, Tallon Griekspoor and Oscar Otte.
He then met Sinner in the fourth round, in a highly anticipated match between two rising stars.
The Italian had broken into the top ten in 2021 and became the youngest winner of an ATP Tour 500 event at the age of 19 years and 357 days. Sinner holds the Guinness World Record for that achievement.
And by beating Alcaraz in four sets, he can make the claim of being one of two men to have beaten the Spaniard at Wimbledon. He went on to lose in the quarter-finals to Novak Djokovic, but he had burst onto the scene as a major player for years to come.
Jannik Sinner eyes his first Wimbledon Final
World number one Jannik Sinner is a two-time major champion, but is yet to make it to the biggest stage at Wimbledon. It’s the only major final he is yet to make after Sinner played Alcaraz at the French Open Final this year.
Grass is traditionally the 23-year-old’s weakest surface. He is 24-12 on grass courts (a 67% win rate), a strong record, but when compared to his 74% win rate on hard courts, there is undoubtedly a downward trend in performance.
While fans reacted to Jack Draper’s tough Wimbledon draw, Sinner finds himself with a potential tricky path to his first Wimbledon Final. He’s on the same side of the bracket as Draper and Djokovic, who he can meet in the semi-final.
The build-up to Wimbledon, which followed his heartbreaking loss in the French Open final to Alcaraz, didn’t go to plan. He was defeated in the second round of the Halle Open, where he was the defending champion.
Alexander Bublik defeated him despite winning the opening set. It was his first defeat to a player ranked outside the Top 20 since August 2023.
Yet Sinner’s 2025 form is red hot. He won the Australian Open in January and put on a performance for the ages at Roland Garros, despite falling to Alcaraz. Should he continue that level of play, he’ll be the favourite to make the Final, where Alcaraz may be waiting for him once again.
