Whispers of AJ Lee’s WWE return continue to grow as CM Punk and Becky Lynch did nothing to dispel the speculation on Monday Night Raw.
Lynch referenced AJ Lee chants on WWE Raw after fans speculated about a tag team match between Punk and Lee vs Seth Rollins and Lynch.
Punk also teased a WWE SmackDown announcement, which many are speculating will involve the arrival of Lee in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.
Back in 2024, Punk explained exactly what needs to happen in order for Lee’s first appearance in WWE for a decade.
CM Punk said AJ Lee has to finish other projects before WWE return
After Punk sensationally returned to WWE in 2023, he was often asked questions about his wife’s potential return to wrestling.
In 2024, the star said Lee was very busy with other projects and she would have to wait for those to finish to pursue WWE again.
“It’s a workload thing for her,” Punk said in an interview with Cheap Heat. “She’s very, very busy. I’m not trying to not talk about it, but I’m also trying to temper people’s expectations.”

“If she wraps up some stuff that she’s working on and she has the time, and she feels like dipping her toe back in or jumping back in the pool, she’ll let us know,” said the Best in the World.

She has also written comic books for Dungeons and Dragons and GLOW, as well as the 2022 Netflix film Blade of the 47 Ronin.
