CM Punk and AJ Lee are reportedly set to take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza, but it won’t be the first time they’ve formed a tag team.
WWE has dropped plenty of AJ Lee return hints over the past few weeks during Punk’s feud with Lynch and Rollins.
AJ Lee’s short time with WWE was legendary as the three-time Divas Champion became one of the most popular stars on the roster between 2012 and 2015.
Lee and Punk have teamed together on two other occasions, with their debut match whipping fans into a frenzy.
CM Punk and AJ Lee matched their outfits on WWE Raw tag team debut
Punk and Lee’s first tag team match on WWE Raw in 2012 saw the pair colour coordinate their gear, and fans couldn’t believe it.
On X, one fan said: “The matching AJ and Punk gear here still has me shocked because they look so good!”
Another said: “This is so cute,” said one fan years after watching their 2012 debut. “Punk and AJ visibly enjoyed this storyline by their facial expressions. Felt natural.”
“Punk and AJ matched their wrestling gear on purpose, I just know it,” said another fan who loved every minute of their brief time on screen together.
The pair won their match against Daniel Bryan and Kane and followed it up by beating Bryan and Eve Torres a month later.
AJ Lee and CM Punk’s only other WWE match together was iconic
The real-life married couple also shared the ring on WWE Raw on October 1, 2012, but this time Lee was the special guest referee for the Best in the World’s match alongside Ziggler against Team Hell No.
The Black Widow counted the three-count as Kane and Bryan retained their titles against the makeshift team.
Ziggler left Punk high and dry in the middle of the ring for Kane to Chokeslam the star and pick up the victory.
To date, that’s the last time Lee and Punk have shared the ring in an official WWE match.
