John Cena’s retirement tour continues to earn the 17-time champion acclaim as the WWE star yet again broke new ground.

Cena is set to make history at WWE Clash in Paris as it’s been confirmed he’ll take on Logan Paul in France.

The 17-time champion wowed audiences with his SummerSlam main event against Cody Rhodes, which saw Cena wrestle his longest WWE match since 2009.

That’s not the only milestone Cena has reached with his match with Rhodes, however, as he received an honour he hasn’t received since 2011.

John Cena earns five-star acclaim for Cody Rhodes match at WWE SummerSlam

Cena’s main event clash with Rhodes at SummerSlam was awarded full marks by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.

It was WWE’s fifth five-star match of 2025 and marked Cena’s second acclaimed match in his entire wrestling career.

The first came against CM Punk at Money in the Bank 2011, which is widely considered one of the best matches of all time.

The match, which took place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, saw the Best in the World defeat Cena for the WWE Championship.

Cena’s retirement tour has received contrasting scores for his retirement match, with his WrestleMania 41 clash with Rhodes scoring just 1.25 stars from Meltzer.

John Cena has just four matches left in WWE

Cena’s WWE retirement tour is on the home stretch as the 17-time champion hangs up his boots in December 2025.

The star is scheduled for WWE Clash in Paris, where he will face Paul, as well as Survivor Series, Crown Jewel, and likely the December Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he’ll wrestle for the last time.

It’s very likely Cena will face Brock Lesnar at either Crown Jewel or Survivor Series, meaning the star has just two opponents left to confirm.

There have been reports that Cena will face Gunther in his final WWE match with the star’s swansong in full sight.
