There’s one thing missing from John Cena’s legendary WWE career – it might not happen before retirement

John Cena’s legendary WWE career could end without him achieving something 92 other stars achieved.

Cena’s legendary WWE career has seen him become a record-setting 17-time World Champion in the company.

The star is still making history in WWE on his retirement tour, with Cena breaking new ground in Dublin, Ireland on August 22.

Despite his illustrious professional wrestling career, there’s still one crucial thing missing from his accomplishments.

John Cena still hasn’t held the Intercontinental Championship in WWE

Despite an incredible career that has seen him hold 27 championships since his WWE debut in 2002, one belt has eluded the star.

Cena has never held the Intercontinental Championship in WWE, and he’s never even challenged for the belt.

The belt is one of the most illustrious belts in the company, and has been held by the likes of The Rock, Steve Austin, and CM Punk.

Known as the ‘work horse’ belt, it’s become synonymous with excellent techinical wrestlers and popular babyfaces.

It’s frankly bizarre that Cena has never held the belt after being a top star in the company for over two decades.

With just a few months left of his WWE career, it’s very unlikely he’ll hold the belt before he hangs up his boots for good.

Another top star has not held the Intercontinental Championship

Perhaps more well-known is Sheamus’ hunt for the Intercontinental Championship as he’s also not held the belt before.

The belt has eluded him throughout his career, but not for the want of trying by The Celtic Warrior throughout the years.

Sheamus challenged Gunther several times for the belt, including at Clash in the Castle, but came up short on several occasions.

Fans have longed for the Irish star to finish his story by winning the championship before he retires from wrestling.
