Carlos Alcaraz can break Rafael Nadal’s national record if he were to win Wimbledon this year.

The Spaniard is the man to beat in world tennis right now. He’s coming off two straight tournament wins at Queen’s Club and Roland Garros, and now eyes his third straight Wimbledon title.

The 22-year-old has had one of the greatest starts to a career in the sport’s history, and now he can add this national record to his list of accomplishments with a successful July in SW19.

Carlos Alcaraz can become the first Spaniard to win three Wimbledon titles

At Queen’s, Alcaraz tied Nadal in grass court trophies, and now he can move past him in Wimbledon titles won.

In his fifth time of asking, Alcaraz can break Nadal’s Spanish record for most Wimbledon Championships won, with three.

Nadal won Wimbledon twice in 2008 and 2010, beating Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych on his way to grass court glory.

It’s a testament to Alcaraz’s versatility. Few have been able to master the elements like the seven-time major winner. He’s been dominant on all three surfaces, winning multiple majors on each and winning at Queen’s fresh off the back of his French Open Final classic with Jannik Sinner.

Furthermore, Alcaraz has 250 ATP Tour wins, becoming the third fastest player in history to amass that win total.

Following Alcaraz winning at Queen’s and Roland Garros, he can also become the second-ever player to win the ‘Channel Slam’ at Wimbledon, following in the footsteps of Nadal, who is currently the only player to have ever taken all three in a single year.

Alcaraz can surpass his fellow countrymen for majors on grass, but since Nadal has 14 French Open titles to his name, he’s got a way to go if he wants to surpass the King of Clay on his favourite surface too.

Carlos Alcaraz boasts the best-ever winning percentage on grass

Alcaraz looks unbeatable going into the tournament and has an incredible record on grass. His win at Queen’s brought his career record on the surface to 27-3, the best for any male player.

His 90% winning percentage on grass is now the highest of any of the 27 former number ones in ATP rankings history, dating back to 1973.

It’s a smaller sample size, admittedly, but that’s more than Roger Federer, John McEnroe and Novak Djokovic.

PlayerRecord on grassWinning percentage
Carlos Alcaraz27-390%
Roger Federer192-2986.9%
John McEnroe121-2085.8%
Novak Djokovic120-2085.7%
Pete Sampras101-2083.5%

The current world number two looks set to extend that advantage over history in this year’s tournament. Who can beat him?
