Emma Raducanu is in a positive place heading into the US Open as she looks set to pick up seeded entry to the final Grand Slam of the year.

The British star is up to World No. 33 in the WTA Rankings, and Raducanu has already won more matches in 2025 than last year.

Raducanu impressed at the Washington Open and is looking to replicate that form at the Canadian Open as she looks to crack the top 32.

Things are positive for the British No. 1, and one surprising stat could be part of the reason for her upturn in form.

Emma Raducanu has already played as many tournaments in 2025 than last year

The British star has often struggled with fitness and injury issues, but she’s slowly been changing the tide on that in 2025.

Since May, Raducanu has played seven tournaments pretty much back to back, including Queen’s, Eastbourne, and Wimbledon within the space of three weeks.

That’s helped Raducanu reach a quiet milestone, which will likely have a drastic effect on her form, fitness, and mentality.

Raducanu’s appearance at the Canadian Open in Montreal is already her sixteenth tournament of 2025, which is the same amount she managed in the entirety of last year.

The British No. 1 plays Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round, with the winner playing 32nd seed Peyton Stearns in round two.

Emma Raducanu has already explained attitude to picking tournaments

Raducanu has always been picky about what tournaments she plays throughout the season, and she explained that decision in 2024.

“I mix and match,” she told The Guardian. “I don’t think I will ever be the player who is playing close to 30 events a year. It is not my style – it never has been.

“Even when I won the US Open, I only played a few tournaments that year,” the British No. 1 continued. “I am not in any big rush to play loads.

The World No. 33 added: “I would rather target tournaments and be ready to play the tournaments that I am entered in.”

It is unclear whether Raducanu will play the Cincinnati Open in between the Canadian Open and the US Open.
