Novak Djokovic’s retirement from tennis is expected to be imminent, and the star has dropped a major hint about what he might do after he hangs up his racket.

Every Grand Slam Djokovic plays could be his last and the legendary tennis great is currently at the US Open looking for his 25th major trophy.

Djokovic has been accused of losing ‘motivation’, but the Serbian is still in the hunt for another huge trophy.

At the US Open, Djokovic revealed who he plans to coach following his retirement from the sport.

Novak Djokovic says he wants to coach Joao Fonseca at the US Open

Fresh from his straight-sets victory over Learner Tien, Djokovic was asked about his retirement plans in an interview with the US Open.

Perhaps with his tongue firmly in his cheek, the 24-time Grand Slam winner said: “My plan after I retire from tennis is to coach [Joao] Fonseca.”

However, the Serbian suggested his time and experience would come at an incredibly high cost for the rising Brazilian.

“I’m going to be very expensive for him, so be ready,” laughed Djokovic about the prospect of him becoming a coach following his retirement.

The Serbian had previously suggested a unique retirement plan at Wimbledon: to drink cocktails with Federer and Nadal.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have praised Joao Fonseca

After his 2025 Australian Open upset victory against Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz called Fonseca “just incredible.”

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner was equally full of praise for the hotly-tipped teenager in an interview ahead of the Rome Open.

“Joao has incredible talent,” Sinner said at the tournament. “These kinds of players are special—you can feel it right away.”

Fonseca is yet to play either of the best two players in the world, but fans are incredibly excited for the moment to happen.
