Carlos Alcaraz is the heavy favourite to claim another Wimbledon this year, but fans are more interested in him playing a star he’s yet to face.
Alcaraz has won Wimbledon the last two years and the Roland Garros champion looks set for the three-peat.
The Spaniard is on a 20-match winning streak, which includes a win on the grass at Queen’s Club and his first two victories at Wimbledon.
Fans are desperate for a rising star to meet the 22-year-old in the quarterfinals of the competition in a first-time bout.

Fans call for Joao Fonseca vs Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon
Joao Fonseca made history at Wimbledon by reaching the third round and fans are hoping he goes two steps further so he can play Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.
“A 2025 Wimbledon QF featuring Carlos Alcaraz vs Joao Fonseca would be one for the ages,” said one excited fan on X.
Another asked: “And when Fonseca upsets Alcaraz in the QFs – then what?”, while one said: ” I think Fonseca could end up pretty close to Sinner/Alcaraz in terms of movement in a few years.”
Others were slightly less convinced about how much of a competitive match the two rising stars of the game would put on.
“3 straight sets to Alcaraz, Fonseca wouldn`t be in the contest!” said one fan, while another wrote: “Wouldn’t Carlos just kill him on the grass?”
Fonseca will need to get past Nicolas Jarry and either Cameron Norrie or Mattia Bellucci, while Alcaraz would need to beat Jan-Lennard Struff or Felix Auger-Aliassime and then Andrey Rublev or Adrian Mannarino.
Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca are good friends
As the newest hot shot on the ATP Tour, Alcaraz has been keeping a keen eye on Fonseca’s development in 2025.
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of Wimbledon, Alcaraz discussed the Brazilian’s chances at the tournament.
“He’s quite new on grass,” said the Spaniard to TNT Sports. “I’ve been talking with him. He’s not really an experienced player on grass.”
Alcaraz is a huge fan of Fonseca’s game and believes he could become a very good grass court player in the future.
“But his style, he loves to play aggressive, to hit big forehands, go to the net,” added Alcaraz. “So I’m pretty sure he’s going to get the level on grass really, really soon.”
The Spaniard could potentially see up close just how good Fonseca is, should the stars align at Wimbledon.
