Carlos Alcaraz has his best-ever ATP Tour year in sight after winning the US Open for a second time.

Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in the US Open final to capture the sixth Grand Slam trophy of his career and confirm his place as the World No. 1.

The Spaniard’s US Open win has capped a sensational summer for the star, which also saw him reach the Wimbledon final and win the Cincinnati Open.

Alcaraz is just a few wins away from marking his best-ever set of wins in a calendar year on the ATP Tour.

Carlos Alcaraz is five wins away from his best-ever year total

Alcaraz’s dominant win over Sinner was the Spaniard’s 61st win of the year, which puts him in touching distance of his best-ever win total.

The brand-new World No. 1 reached 65 wins in 2023 in a year that saw him win his debut Wimbledon crown.

The Spaniard is just five wins away from breaking that title, with several high-profile tournaments left to play.

Alcaraz will miss the Davis Cup, but he will still play the Laver Cup, before jetting off to the Asia leg of the tour in China and Japan in September and October.

He’ll also follow that up with appearances at the Paris Masters in France and the ATP Tour Finals in Turin, so Alcaraz will very likely pick up enough wins to make sure he finishes 2025 as his best year on tour.

Carlos Alcaraz opens up about achieving his ‘dream’

Alcaraz’s win against Sinner saw him become the World No. 1 for the first time since September 2023, a goal he’s been looking to achieve for a long time.

“Since I got the chance to recover the #1, it was one of the first goals I had during the season,” said the Spaniard after his US Open triumph.

“Trying to recover it as soon as possible or ending the year as #1. For me to achieve that once again, it’s a dream,” said Alcaraz.

Alcaraz’s run as World No. 1 from September 2023 saw him lead the top of the ATP Tour for 36 weeks.
