Carlos Alcaraz’s stunning admission after winning the US Open should strike fear into the rest of the ATP Tour

Carlos Alcaraz played at an extraordinary level to win the 2025 US Open, but he still doesn’t think he’s playing his best tennis.

Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner to win the US Open, sweeping aside his great rival in a thrilling four-set match on Arthur Ashe.

The Spaniard’s win means he’s the new World No. 1 as Sinner failed to match a Roger Federer record at the US Open.

Alcaraz was incredible for the entire tournament at Flushing Meadows, but he believes he can play better.

Carlos Alcaraz thinks he can play better after dominant US Open win

Alcaraz was incredible at the US Open, dropping just three games on his serve and facing just 10 break points.

Despite his dominance at the tournament, in which he dropped just one set, Alcaraz is convinced he can find higher levels.

“I think I’m at the best version of my career so far, but not yet at 100%,” said Alcaraz in his press conference after winning his sixth Grand Slam.

“At 22-years-old, it’s difficult to already be at your maximum level,” the Spaniard conceded. “Little by little I’ll keep improving to try and get there. The best Carlos hasn’t come out yet.”

Alcaraz defeated Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Jiri Lehecka, Arthur Rinderknech, Luciano Darderi, and Mattia Bellucci to claim his second US Open crown.

Carlos Alcaraz’s win over Jannik Sinner was ‘most dominant’ US Open final since 2017

Alcaraz may think he can become better and more dominant, but the statistics behind his US Open win show he’s already at that level.

The star won 55.7% of the total points against Sinner in the US Open final, meaning it’s the ‘most dominant’ final for eight years.

In a nice ‘full circle’ moment, the last player to achieve such dominance was Alcaraz’s idol, Rafael Nadal, against Kevin Anderson in 2017.

Nadal won 56.7% of points against the South African giant to claim his third US Open title.
