Emma Raducanu is building up some incredible momentum ahead of the US Open, but previous comments could have already set up what happens for the rest of her season.

Raducanu has picked up more wins than ever in 2025 following her run to the semi-finals at the Washington Open.

The British star is living up to her US Open 2021 triumph form, with Andrea Petkovic praising Raducanu’s game in Washington.

Despite the British No. 1’s impressive form heading into the final Grand Slam of the year, Raducanu could have already predicted how her 2025 season will finish.

Emma Raducanu said she will never play close to 30 events a year

Raducanu has already played more events in 2025 than in 2024, but the star’s previous assessment could mean her singles season ends after the US Open.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2024, the star stated that she would never play too many tournaments in a single season.

“I don’t think I will ever be the player who is playing close to 30 events a year. It is not my style – it never has been,” said Raducanu ahead of the 2024 US Open.

The Canadian Open marks Raducanu’s 16th tournament of the year, while the US Open will likely be the British star’s 18th.

“I am not in any big rush to play loads,” added Raducanu, who could bow out of singles competition after the US Open this year.

The British No. 1 added: “I would rather target tournaments and be ready to play the tournaments that I am entered in.”

The star only played one singles tournament after the US Open in 2024, the Hana Bank Korea Open, as well as competing in the Billie Jean King Cup.

Raducanu is already confirmed for this year’s Billie Jean King Cup in September, which could end up being her final tournament of the year.

Emma Raducanu hits British milestone at Canadian Open

Raducanu is one of the most successful British women’s stars of the past few generations, and the numbers are starting to back that up.

The 2021 US Open champion has become the first British female star to achieve 10 WTA 1000 wins since Johanna Konta in 2016.

The star continues to break new ground in 2025 and could make more history if she’s successful in Toronto.

Raducanu plays Peyton Stearns in the second round of the Canadian Open, with the winner playing either Lulu Sun or Amanda Anisimova.
