Dan Evans thrilled the British crowd at Queen’s Club by stunning World No. 13 Frances Tiafoe in straight sets.

Tennis fans were shocked by Dan Evans’ victory as he picked up a straightforward 7-5 6-2 win over the American.

Evans revealed he was ‘lucky’ to be at Queen’s Club after a difficult year that has seen him fall through the ATP Tour rankings.

After his match, Evans said he hoped his former doubles partner Andy Murray wasn’t watching in his post-match interview at Queen’s Club.

Dan Evans hoped Andy Murray didn’t hear his compliments at Queen’s

Queen’s Club changed the name of their Centre Court to the Andy Murray Arena after the star who won the tournament a record five times between 2009 and 2016.

Asked how Andy Murray had inspired his career in his Queen’s Club post-match interview, Evans revealed: “Not just mine but the whole of British tennis.”

However, the World No. 199 dropped further compliments and then conceded he hoped the three-time Grand Slam winner hadn’t heard the star be so nice about him.

“He always has time for everyone and it’s fitting he has an arena named after him – hopefully he’s not watching and hearing me say that!,” said Evans about his former doubles partner.

Evans played during Murray’s final-ever tennis match in the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Who else is playing at Queen’s Club 2025?

Some of the biggest stars in tennis have descended upon London to take part in Queen’s for some much-needed grass action ahead of Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz will play in his first tournament at Queen’s since winning Roland Garros as he looks to replicate the 2023 tournament by winning the competition.

Jack Draper will be looking to become the first British star to win the tournament since Murray won his final Queen’s in 2016.
