Wimbledon will not go down the same route as the US Open with its brand-new Mixed Doubles Tournament, it has been confirmed.
The US Open offered a $1m prize for a new two-day tournament ahead of the singles draw, which saw many of the biggest names in singles competition.
Emma Raducanu teamed with Carlos Alcaraz, while the likes of Jack Draper, Ben Shelton, and Taylor Fritz also featured.
Raducanu called for every Grand Slam to follow in the US Open’s footsteps, but that’s been declined by Wimbledon chiefs.

Wimbledon to keep doubles tournament the same despite Emma Raducanu’s request
Raducanu enjoyed her time playing at the US Open tournament and believes it should be introduced at all the Grand Slams.
During the US Open Mixed Doubles tournament, where Raducanu lost in the first round alongside Alcaraz, she said: “I think it would be so fun if all the Slams got involved and did something similar.”
However, this will not be the case at Wimbledon in 2026.
Tournament organisers have confirmed, via The Express, that they have no plans to change the way the current doubles tournament is played.
Much like the Australian Open and Roland Garros, the doubles draw will be played concurrently with the singles draw.
The US Open was changed this year to bring more star-power to the draw, with the biggest names in singles tennis invited to play.
However, the tournament was still won by doubles specialists Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who defeated Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison in the final.
The US Open Mixed Doubles was as controversial as it was popular
It’s no surprise that Wimbledon has decided against the star-studded tournament before the Grand Slam, as plenty of big names were unhappy with the new move from the US Open.
Jack Draper called the US Open an ‘exhibition’, while several doubles players were unhappy with being snubbed.
Additionally, doubles specialist Joe Salisbury said players were only there for money, but the tournament was well attended.
Both Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong were packed up for both days of the tournament as tennis fans flocked to see the biggest stars in the sport.
