Cody Rhodes has not been an established heel in the WWE since his ‘Undashing’ 2011 run.
SummerSlam heads to New Jersey, and Rhodes is looking to dethrone Undisputed WWE champion John Cena when they face off in a street fight.
The ‘American Nightmare’ may be able to halt the retirement run of Massachusetts’ own, and he may have history on his side with Cena’s bizarre record at the Premium Live Event.

While the champion has been on his final run in the WWE, he has been a heel since turning at Elimination Chamber, finding success in his newfound role with wins against long-time rivals like CM Punk.
Cody Rhodes details how his potential heel character would look
But his 40-year-old opponent has not had a run as a villain in the company for more than 14 years.
Even if he isn’t planning on turning anytime soon, the ‘Grandson of a Plumber’ did tease fans on exactly how he would approach the task if the opportunity ever arose.
Speaking to ESPN, he gave some interesting details on what he’d do to stick to the character.
He said: “I always like to say in what we do, never say never, and the more you are in this, it’s probably really likely, but I think my version of a heel is just way too I don’t know.
“I wouldn’t have music, the song would go away, the entrance would go away, I would try and get myself cancelled.
It could be that this bout against the undisputed ruler of the WWE brings out a side of Rhodes that has never been seen before in the company.
Cody Rhodes names the one entrance greater than his, and it is not Roman Reigns’
Losing his iconic entrance if he were ever to turn would be a great loss to fans in the arena, but they have some other incredible walks down the entrance ramp that they are treated to.
Asked about whether he felt his entrance was the best in the company, he couldn’t give himself the honour, instead choosing a different popular star.
He said: “It’s solid, I would actually say the second best because of Jey Uso’s entrance.
“Jey Uso gets an entire crowd, thousands and thousands of people yeeting, and it’s almost like this religious experience now, the amount of yeeting going on in the crowd.
“So I’d say Jey Uso one, I’d say me one B.”
An endorsement from a top star is just another honour for ‘Main Event’ Jey’s fan favourite entrance, after being named the top WWE entrance of today over Punk this month.
Uso has got his own hands full at the biggest event of the summer, when he teams with Roman Reigns to take on the team of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
Night one kicks off on August 2nd, and it could see Reigns make Breakker a star on the main roster.
