Fans are concerned about John Cena’s final match taking place on Saturday Night’s Main Event after issues with Goldberg’s final bout.
John Cena is retiring in December 2025 and the match is expected to take place on a Saturday Night’s Main Event.
It will follow Goldberg’s final WWE match against Gunther, which was marred by advertising and cut off long before he finished his final-ever promo.
Fans are worried NBC could perform the same tricks and tarnish Cena’s final-ever WWE match.
Fans don’t want John Cena’s final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event
Fans were quick to share concerns about Cena’s match after the feed was cut for Goldberg’s WWE swansong.
“They rushed Goldberg and then had his retirement speech cut,” explained one fan before adding, “Now I’m worried about John Cena’s Retirement Speech.”
Another said: “Not the best idea to have John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event if they’re just going to cut off his retirement speech like they did with Goldberg.”
“They gave Goldberg such a cheap retirement,” said one fan on X. “I really hope they don’t do the same with Cena.”
Another said: “It’s a huge disrespect to have commercials in the middle of his last match and to cut off Goldberg’s speech… I really hope John Cena doesn’t retire on this show.”
Cena’s final match is expected to be the next Saturday Night’s Main Event in December, which is rumoured to be taking place in Boston, Massachusetts.
The 17-time champion has faced the likes of Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Cody Rhodes in his final year as a competitor.
He’s confirmed to have a re-match with Rhodes at SummerSlam at the beginning of August with the WWE Championship on the line.
John Cena’s final WWE opponent reportedly revealed
There has been plenty of discussion around Cena’s final opponent, but WWE’s current plan for his last match may have been revealed.
Fresh from retiring Goldberg, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is currently lined up to be Cena’s final opponent according to WRKD Wrestling.
The two men have never faced each other and it’s been a much anticipated match since the Austrian made his debut on the main roster in 2022.
Whether Cena keeps hold of the WWE Championship until December to make it a champion vs champion match is anyone’s guess.
