Carlos Alcaraz wins $5m at the 2025 US Open
Alcaraz had beaten Sinner in their last match, and he followed it up with his 10th win against his Italian rival.
The Spaniard picked up the win in four sets against Sinner and he was rewarded with an incredible cash prize.
Alcaraz pocketed a $5 million cash prize for winning the US Open, the biggest amount of money ever given on the men’s draw.
The prize was significantly larger than last year’s total, increasing by a staggering 20 per cent from the 2024 event.
It’s the same amount as Aryna Sabalenka scooped for winning the US Open a day prior in the women’s final against Amanda Anisimova.
Carlos Alcaraz becomes the World No. 1 with US Open final win
The World No. 1 was on the line for Alcaraz and Sinner, and it was the Spaniard who earned the top spot of the ATP Tour.
Alcaraz became the World No. 1 for the first time since September 2023 after fighting with Sinner for the whole of 2025.
The Italian had held the top spot for over 60 weeks, despite his ban from the sport after the Australian Open, but Alcaraz has finally shifted him from top spot.
Alcaraz spent 36 weeks as the World No. 1 from September 2023, and he’ll be looking to go longer this time around.
