John Cena’s WWE retirement tour has been the talking point of the company for the entirety of 2025.
Cena’s WWE retirement tour has seen him face the likes of Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and CM Punk this year.
The star has stolen professional wrestling headlines throughout the year, especially with Cena’s devastating WWE heel turn at Elimination Chamber.
With just a few dates left until he retires, Cena may have let slip who he’s set to face before he hangs up his boots.
Did John Cena just tease two more WWE retirement tour matches?
Cena’s appearance at a FanExpo over the weekend of August 9 could have spoiled who the star faces on the remaining dates of his retirement tour.
Asked about his wrestling soulmates at the Boston FanExpo, via the Boston Herald, Cena was quick to name some familiar foes.
“I have a few wrestling soulmates,” said Cena. “Those are Orton, Edge, Punk, Seth Rollins, and Styles. But gosh, I can’t take any shine away from Cody Rhodes—add him, too.”
Cena has already faced Orton, Punk, and Rhodes on his WWE retirement tour, so this could have been a clue about who he could face before he retires.
Cena will face Brock Lesnar in September, as well as Logan Paul at WWE’s Clash in Paris on August 31, leaving just two PLEs left at Crown Jewel and Survivor Series.
While Edge can’t face Cena due to his AEW contract, there’s every chance those two matches could be against Rollins and Styles, two names the 17-time champion said were his ‘wrestling soulmates’.
Cena’s final match is expected to be Gunther, at an as-yet-unannounced Saturday Night’s Main Event in Boston, Massachusetts.

Styles and Cena’s legendary WWE rivalry saw the pair battle it out at Money in the Bank and SummerSlam 2016, as well as Royal Rumble 2017.
“I would love to have it [another match], for sure, it’d be fun,” the Phenomenal One said in an interview with Chris Van Vliet.
“The first time I got in the ring with him it was like, ‘Wow, dude, that was cool’. So, yeah, I would love the opportunity to work with Cena again.”
Styles is currently embroiled in a feud with Dominik Mysterio over the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Raw.
