Cody Rhodes is once again WWE Champion with his next opponent currently up in the air, but fans are certain the American Nightmare will face a top star.
Rhodes defeated John Cena at SummerSlam to cap off their six month feud that saw them face each other twice.
While Cena was attacked by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Rhodes is now free to feud with another SmackDown star for the WWE Championship.
Fans have taken to social media to predict who the American Nightmare’s next opponent will be.
Fans think Drew McIntyre will challenge Cody Rhodes at Clash in Paris
Fans are certain Drew McIntyre will be Rhodes’s next opponent, and it could be confirmed as soon as SmackDown on August 8.
The pair have not wrestled since a 2024 episode of WWE Raw ahead of WrestleMania 41, which was won by the Scottish Warrior.
Fans believe the time is right to see the two main event stars clash over the company’s biggest prize.
On X, one fan wrote: “Cody Rhodes is definitely feuding with Drew McIntyre for a few months now for the WWE Championship.”
“Who should be Cody Rhodes’ next rival?” another asked, before adding: “I say it’s time for Drew McIntyre.
“I hope Drew McIntyre vs Cody Rhodes is the Clash in Paris match,” said another. “There’s been odd cues lately, and this might be it.”
Rhodes and McIntyre have plenty of history, dating back to the American Nightmare’s first stint in WWE. The two men even held the Tag Team Championships together in 2010.

While fans are certain it will be McIntyre as Rhodes’ next challenger, there are other options for the WWE Champion.
Rhodes could be set to face Rollins at Crown Jewel, but there are other top stars who could want a piece of the American Nightmare.
Randy Orton is certainly an option for Rhodes, particularly with the history the two men share from their days in Legacy.
Aleister Black is fresh off a big win against Damian Priest on SmackDown, and he could reignite his AEW feud with Rhodes.
