Triple H’s brutal 2001 Goldberg rant is startling amid final WWE match controversy – ‘No guts, no heart’

Triple H did not have a high opinion of Goldberg when asked about him in a 2001 episode of WWE’s Tough Enough.

The two men have never really seen eye to eye, but that didn’t stop Triple H from booking Goldberg’s WWE retirement match against Gunther.

Goldberg has slammed WWE for his final match, suggesting he wasn’t happy about the short build or his retirement speech getting cut by the NBC feed.

In the wake of his discontent with the company, Triple H’s comments on Goldberg from 2001 have once again resurfaced.

Triple H slated Goldberg during WWE Tough Enough in 2001

In a deleted scene from Tough Enough in 2001, Triple H did not take kindly to a contestant calling Goldberg his favourite wrestler.

“If your biggest idol is a guy that’s been in the business for about a year,” said Triple H as he kickstarted an angry tirade on the WCW icon.

“He got everything handed to him, can’t have a match longer than four minutes, has not wrestled for more than three months straight, because every three months he’s got a hangnail, got a toothache, got a tummyache and he has to take time off, then where does that mentally put that person?”

The rant did not end there either as The Game continued to dismantle the star he gave one final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“It is about being just a big jacked up guy that stands in the ring, is fed a bunch of guys that really don’t know what they’re doing to mow over,” continued Triple H.

The star added: “He abuses that. What does it say about somebody who has no heart for what we do? No guts, no heart.”

Triple H and Goldberg faced off several times in WWE, most famously at Unforgiven and Armageddon in 2003.

Goldberg was not a fan of Triple H either

The feeling between Goldberg and Triple H is mutual as the WCW icon has spoken out about his relationship with The Game.

The star did not take kindly to Triple H’s comments about him taking time away from WCW when the company was failing.

“He made a comment while I was at home and I remember it like it was yesterday,” said Goldberg via The Sportster.

Goldberg continued: “He said I was tanking it or faking it or something and I wasn’t there for the demise of WCW. So from then on, I wanted to eat that guy’s… I wanted to rip his face off.”

It’s a wonder the two men managed to work out their differences ahead of Goldberg’s WWE retirement match.
